Stress relieving
tips from other parents "in the trenches" ...
-
Hit
all the garage sales, resale shops, etc. and buy up all those cheap and
funky coffee cups. When the stress level becomes just too much to
bear, take some outside and slam them to the ground. I understand that
this is very therapeutic and am building up a stock of my own for those
tough moments.

... one very valuable thing
that I depend on is at least one humorous email a day - to or from someone.
There are actually funnies of the day websites and it really helps. Oh and
of course, maintaining a good supply of Zoloft, Wellbutrin, and Lorazepam
does not hurt a bit when combined with your evening beer. LOL

Primal screaming. Just
scream -- as loud and as long as you can -- for as long as it takes to
release some of the pain. It really, really helps. And, anyone in the
vicinity will tiptoe around you for days afterward!

We use rain forest music
for calming here and also showers. The children love the feel of the water
and it calms and soothes them. They love Native American music also.
It is just as calming to them as the rain forest music.

This
is bizarre in must peoples minds but ... get a hold of sage ... I get mine
at a local health food store. Leaf sage or a commercial sage bundle with
added lavender, cedar etc. when burned and used as a smudge (smoking in a
shell or ceramic dish) has been scientifically proven to lower stress
levels, making people much calmer. But then, I also know this came from the
Native American religion. They used it to remove "evil spirits" from homes
and clear the bad thoughts from the mind. I just light it in a shell,
inhale deeply, using my hand to bring it over my head and then let it
smolder in the rest of the house. Very relaxing, soothing and peaceful.
